Primary Job Duties:
Sana Behavioral Health Is the leading provider of behavioral health services in Las Vegas. We provide a caring, supportive environment which promotes healing by assisting our patients to return to the highest level of functioning and independence possible.  Our program specializes in meeting the emotional, behavioral and physical needs of our patients. 

Under the general direction of the RN or LPN, the Mental Health Tech /Certified Nursing Assistant performs delegated patient care tasks. Basic care is provided in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and customer satisfaction. The CNA performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment and at a level not requiring constant supervision. The MHT/CNA serve as safety monitors employing knowledge gained through CPI (Crisis Prevention Instruction) training.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Provides for patients personal hygiene: gives bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves, and assists with showers.
  2. Provides for activities of daily living: assists with meals and feeds patients; ambulates, turns, and positions patients; provides fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  3. Performs 1&0, if ordered; checks vital signs and weight on admit and as ordered; specimen collection, when appropriate and post-mortem care on rare occasions
  4. Participates in the admission process by completing tasks such as search for contraband, listing patient belongings, and orienting the patient to the unit
  5. Ensures patient clothing is clean and folded
  6. Demonstrates skill in making patients comfortable, assures patient privacy and dignity.
  7. Maintains neat and orderly appearance while performing duties in a competent and caring manner. Demonstrates dependability with consistent, punctual attendance.
  8. Maintains good working relationships with all staff. Communicates and provides assistance to establish a professional environment.
  9. Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.
  10. Promptly answers patients call lights and requests.
  11. Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.
  12. May be responsible for leading a Group session fitted to skill level
  13. Respects patient confidentiality in administration, employee, and patient issues by adhering to HIPAA guidelines and demonstrates professional conduct.
  14. Participates in mandatory in-services regarding, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and OSHA.
  15. Understands and adheres to established compliance, safety, and quality assurance standards.
  16. Accepts and completes other duties as assigned based on skill and need

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education or Skills:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION & ABILITIES:
Certification, Registration, or Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant Certification from the state of Nevada. Current BLS Certification and current CPI Certification. Certified Nursing Assistant Certification may be waived for experienced Mental Health Tech or situations based on individual ability
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent, Successful completion of Nursing Assistant course or the equivalent.
Minimum Experience: One year hospital experience with acceptable references preferred.
Other: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
PHYSICAL: Must be able to stand and walk for long periods. Must be able to write legibly. Must be able to hear and communicate by telephone and in person with others; must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Must be able to move up to 50 lbs. to stock supplies and move or support patients utilizing appropriate body mechanics. Must have good vision with the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
MENTAL: Must be flexible and patient in a demanding environment. Must be able to prioritize and use good judgment. Must be able to coordinate a variety of issues while tolerating frequent interruptions. Must have the ability to remain calm while responding to emergent situations.
